I've been hearing a lot about Intralipid 20% Emulsion (1000ml) lately and I'm curious about others' experiences. This IV solution is meant to provide essential fats and calories for people who can't get enough nutrition by eating. I've heard it can be a lifesaver in certain situations, but I've also heard about some pretty serious potential side effects. I'm wondering how common these side effects are and if the benefits really outweigh the risks. Has anyone had personal experience with this? Caregivers, you're welcome to share your stories too. I'd appreciate any insights or advice, especially from those who've dealt with severe reactions.

Did anyone notice changes in their skin or that of their loved ones while on this? I've heard it can cause discoloration and I'd like to know if that's a common occurrence or not.

This thread is scary. I had no idea Intralipid could cause so many problems. My friend was on it and she's completely fine now, but I'm worried she might have been at risk.

I've seen some patients get fever and chills while on this. Always good to be prepared for the unexpected!

This isn't funny, but I had a patient who developed jaundice while on Intralipid. Turned out it wasn't the lipid, but the patient's liver couldn't handle the load. Make sure to check your liver function before starting treatment.
