Hey everyone, I recently had a procedure where Iodixanol 270mg/ml Inj, 100ml was used as a contrast agent. I'm curious to know if anyone else has had experience with this drug. I was really anxious about the potential side effects, especially the rare but severe ones like Stevens-Johnson syndrome. The nurse reassured me that these are extremely rare, but I couldn't help but worry. I ended up having a mild reaction with some irritation at the injection site and a brief feeling of warmth. I just wanted to share my experience and ask if anyone else has had similar reactions or knows more about managing these side effects. Also, how common are the severe side effects? Has anyone experienced them or know someone who has? Any insights would be really helpful.

Iodixanol is generally safe, but you should always discuss your medical history with your doctor. Some people are more at risk for reactions, like those with a history of allergies or kidney issues. Also, make sure to inform the medical staff if you have any thyroid problems.

I work in a hospital and have seen a few cases where patients had severe reactions. It's rare, but it happens. always have epinephrine and other emergency meds on hand. Make sure to monitor patients closely for at least 30 minutes after injection.

Not a joke, but if anyone figures out how to get through these scans without the contrast agents, let me know.

I think the key is communication. Make sure your doctor knows your full medical history and any concerns you have. They can prepare you and the medical team accordingly. Sometimes it's not just about the contrast agent itself, but also how it's administered and the patient's overall health. It's a team effort.

Did anyone else feel really warm all over after the injection? I thought I was having a panic attack, but the nurse said it was a common side effect.

I was way too anxious this whole time. I couldn't stop googling side effects and it made me way more nervous.

I had a similar experience with Iodixanol. The irritation at the injection site was a bit uncomfortable, but it went away quickly. Just make sure to stay hydrated before and after the procedure. It helps flush out the iodine faster.

Iodixanol is known for its low osmolality, which means it's less likely to cause side effects compared to other contrast agents. Still, everyone's body reacts differently, so it's crucial to be prepared. Always inform your healthcare provider if you experience any side effects, no matter how minor they seem.
