I recently had a CT scan where the radiologist used Iodixanol 320mg/ml Inj, 200ml as the contrast agent. I was a bit nervous because I've heard horror stories about adverse effects from contrast agents but this dye is generally considered very safe. The injection site was sore afterwards, but it was manageable. I felt a bit warm after the injection, but that was it. I wasn't expecting anything serious. I had no symptoms or problems that the doctor mentioned as urgent. It turns out I didn't need to worry at all. My big question is: how many of you have had similar experiences? I'm curious to know if anyone else felt that 'feeling of warmth' after the injection, and if it was as mild as mine.

Do you think kidney problems are a big concern with this stuff?

I had a similar experience. The warmth was pretty noticeable but it went away quickly. Definitely better than some of the other contrast agents I've had in the past.

Iodixanol is generally well-tolerated, but it's crucial to be aware of the rare but severe side effects. If you experience any of the symptoms like difficulty breathing or swelling, seek medical help right away. Better safe than sorry!

I've never heard of Stevens-Johnson syndrome or Toxic epidermal necrolysis, but I'm definitely going to look into those. Even though most reactions are mild, those sound scary and worth knowing about.

I worked as a radiologic technologist for years, and Iodixanol is one of the safer contrast agents out there. The 'warm feeling' is common but if there is any swelling, or you feel a burning sensation it is a good idea to alert the staff right away. Most of the time it is nothing to worry about. Doctors are really looking out for you.
