I've been wondering if it's really necessary to give my 5-year-old a daily children's multivitamin chewable tablet. His diet isn't perfect, but I try to make sure he eats a variety of foods. I've heard that multivitamins can help fill nutritional gaps, but I'm also a bit worried about the possible side effects. Has anyone had experience with these supplements? Are they really worth it? Should I consult my pediatrician before starting these? I need some help deciding.

Multivitamins are great, but they're not a replacement for a healthy diet. Make sure your child is eating a variety of foods and getting enough exercise.

I give my kids multivitamins and they love the chewable tablets. They taste like candy and are easy to chew (much easier than swallowing pills). Just make sure to follow the dosage instructions and tell your pediatrician. They don't replace a healthy diet, but they are great for filling in any gaps. Our pediatrician suggested it to help keep them balanced.

I gave my kids multivitamins but they got upset stomachs and vomiting. It wasn't worth it for us.

Please be aware of possible side effects. Talk to your doctor. My child had an allergic reaction and it was scary. Contact your doctor immediately if you notice any symptoms like rash, hives, or trouble breathing. I'd rather people know this stuff.
