I recently had an episode of atrial fibrillation (AFib) and was given Diltiazem 50mg/10ml Inj via IV. It really helped control my heart rate, but I'm a bit worried about the potential side effects. I've heard it can cause some pretty serious issues. Has anyone else had experience with this medication, especially with the IV form? I'd love to hear about your experiences and any advice you might have.

I've had IV Diltiazem a few times for AFib, and it worked well for me. My heart rate slowed down quickly, and I didn't experience any major side effects. However, the injection site did get a bit irritated, so be prepared for that. Plus, you really do need to be monitored for bradycardia or any other arrhythmias. But it can be life-saving! Make sure you're in a hospital setting, though. .

I've had a really hard time with this medication, but that doesn't mean you will. Everyone is different, and you might have a great experience with it. It's all about finding the right medication and dose for you. Diltiazem might be the miracle drug you're looking for! Fingers crossed!

Did you have any other meds running at the time? It's not super common, but I had side effects with this one, and it was due to interactions with something else I was on.

IV Diltiazem can be a lifesaver for AFib, but it's important to be monitored closely during administration. Be sure to talk to your doctor about any concerns you have, and trust your gut if you feel like something's not right. I've seen tons of cases where doctors were able to control AFib with inital IV Diltiazem, and then switch to an oral dose.

This is a good example of why calcium channel blockers are so useful!

I've seen a few cases where patients developed severe skin reactions, like Stevens-Johnson syndrome (SJS) or TEN, from Diltiazem. It's rare, but it's important to be aware of the signs. If you notice any red, swollen, blistered, or peeling skin, or any other severe skin irritation, seek medical help right away.
