I've been prescribed Desyrel 150mg (Trazodone) to help with insomnia and it's been a game-changer for my sleep. However, I've been taking it for about three months now and I'm starting to wonder about the long-term effects. I've read about potential side effects like dizziness and drowsiness, but I'm more concerned about the serious ones like serotonin syndrome or priapism. Has anyone else experienced long-term issues with Desyrel? I'm also curious if anyone has successfully tapered off this medication. The idea of becoming dependent on it scares me a bit. Any insights or experiences you can share would be greatly appreciated.

Serotonin syndrome is serious, so make sure you know the signs. Sudden fever, hallucinations, or rapid heartbeat are big red flags. If you start feeling those, get medical help ASAP.

I was on Desyrel for a few months for sleep, but my doc switched me to a different med because I was experiencing muscle pain and a weird, stiff feeling in my body. It’s not super common, but it can happen. Just pay attention to how your body feels and don’t hesitate to chat with your doctor.

Anyone know if there are specific withdrawal symptoms when going off Desyrel? I'm considering talking to my doc about trying to wean off.

What's the tapering off process like? I've seen it mentioned but never got details. Does anyone know more about that?

Don't worry too much about the long-term effects, they are rare. I’ve been taking Desyrel for years and haven't had any issues. But do keep an eye out for the serious side effects and if anything seems off talk to your doctor.
