My mom had to take this when she was in the hospital for an infection. Her doctor said it's important to finish the full course of antibiotics, even if you feel better. You don't want that infection coming back with a vengeance.
seriously, though, be aware of the kidney issues. I had a friend who ended up with temporary kidney failure from this stuff. Scary shit. Make sure your doctor is monitoring your kidney function regularly.
I've had Gentamicin before, it wasn't a walk in the park, but it did the job. I experienced some dizziness and ringing in the ears, but nothing too bad.
