I was recently prescribed Captopril/HCTZ 50/25 Tablets to manage my high blood pressure. The pharmacy gave me a long list of possible side effects, and I'm feeling overwhelmed. I've heard that this combo can cause some rare but serious issues, like allergic reactions and kidney problems. Has anyone else dealt with this med? What should I really be keeping an eye out for, and what can I do to stay safe while taking it?

Hydochlorthiazide is a diuretic, so changes in urine output are expected. Just make sure you're not dehydrating and your kidneys are functioning normally.

I've been on this for a while and it's great for my blood pressure. Just be diligent and check in with your doctor regularly.

I agree with the above comments. Also, make sure to stay hydrated and monitor your electrolytes. Dehydration can be a real issue with this med, and it can lead to some serious complications if you're not careful. Drink plenty of water and listen to your body.

I had a friend who took this and ended up with a weird rash. Turns out it was an allergic reaction. She had to stop taking it and switch to something else. So yeah, definitely keep an eye out for any skin changes.
