Just Drinking Gavilyte-C on the Eve of My Colonoscopy; What To Expect?
I've got my colonoscopy scheduled for tomorrow, and I'm already dreading the 4000ml of Gavilyte-C Solution I have to drink tonight. I've heard horror stories from friends about dehydration and the frequent, watery bowel movements. I actually want to know how to prepare myself better than just hoping my colonoscopy goes as smoothly as possible. I want to know if anyone has any tips on how to make this process as painless as possible, or if anyone has any horror stories or unexpected side effects. I guess if anyone wants to share their experiences or advice it would be appreciated! I was told to drink it over 16 hours, but I'm not sure if that's enough to be comfortable. Just want to be prepared as much as possible, haha.

I didn't know this was a thing you had to do for a colonoscopy. Thanks for the warning! There has to be a better way than drinking 4,000ml...
I felt so weird after drinking it on an empty stomach. Worth it though. The rest of the procedure went fine for me. Just felt like I had an empty stomach that night.
Be sure to avoid red meat and dairy for a few days before you start drinking the Gavilyte-C. I also drank ginger tea to help with the nausea. It was so helpful! I was nauseous after the first two drinks. The ginger tea really helped.
Take it slow, drink it cold, and be prepared to be in the bathroom a lot. I think the worst part is the frequent trips to the bathroom. That’s what I dislike the most.
I've had to do this a few times, and I always find that the first bottle is the worst. I can't recommend breaking it down into smaller portions throughout the day enough. I’ll take small doses of water between every dose of Gavilyte-C. It helps a ton!
I just went through this! Drink lots of water between doses and take it slow! Take it slow! You will thank yourself later. The first time I drank it too fast and had an awful night. Be patient with yourself! Take a few sips and then wait a bit. Repeat until you finish the first bottle. Then, do the same with the second bottle.
I did mine a month ago, and I actually found that drinking it cold helped a lot. It was so tough to get it down. I also moved around a lot while drinking it. Made the whole process a lot less painful.
I got so dehydrated last time I did it. Just make sure you drink a ton of water before you start drinking Gavilyte-C. Trust me, you don't want to end up in the ER like me. I had to take electrolyte tablets after every dose. Definitely made it more bearable.
I actually enjoyed it! I had a bit of a party in my mouth. My friends were confused why I loved it. I didn't love it, I hated it. I did it because it was easier to drink a little bit at a time. I actually found that I felt better after doing it that way. I actually liked the taste a lot.
