I just took my 5-year-old daughter to the doctor and they gave her the Kinrix vaccine. I know it's supposed to protect against some serious diseases, but I'm getting a bit nervous about the possible side effects. I know that it's rare, but everything I read mentions the possibility of serious reactions. I just want my daughter to be safe—is there anyone else whose child has had this vaccine and what was their experience?

I actually work as a nurse and my son just got the Kinrix shot last month. The most common frustration we see on the phones at the office is that the injection site ended up sore for a few days. Just keep an eye on it and don't forget: ice packs for the win!

I’m glad you brought up this vaccine. I almost forgot that my kid’s pediatrician said we should have him vaccinated soon ... Thanks for the reminder!

My daughter got this vaccine a few weeks ago and she was completely fine. Just a little redness at the site of the injection that cleared up in a few days.

I think you'll be fine! I had given my kid the vaccine last month, and he was just a little drowsy for the rest of the day, and also had a headache. Maybe it was just the sugar crash from his popsicle prize? Just keep an eye on him and follow your pediatrician's advice.

I know the vaccine can help protect against really serious diseases but I'm not looking forward to his crying as he gets it. Has anyone else's kid just tossed it off and it wasn't a big deal?

Will still push to have the vaccine just to get the peace of mind. My kid is kind of a wuss about needles but I figure a little pain is better than risking polio.

A friend of mine’s kid had a really bad reaction to it. He had to go to the hospital, but it was really rare. I’m glad I read this and know how to handle a situation like this if it comes up.

My son got it last month and had a mild fever for a day. It wasn't too bad. We just gave him some kids Tylenol and kept an eye on him.

Can’t believe some anti-vaxxers still think vaccines cause autism. It's laughable to me especially when it comes to the Kinrix vaccine. My daughter had a bit of pain, redness, and swelling at the injection site but nothing else, and she's fine now.

Someone else mentioned that the Kinrix vaccine made their kid a bit drowsy. I vaxxed my daughter last week and she was just fine, but I wonder if the drowsiness is a legit side effect or individual sensitivity?
