I'll be having a CT scan today and the doctor is injecting Visipaque 270mg/ml for the contrast. Has anyone had side effects like those mentioned? How did you manage them? Also, curious if anyone had any major problems since the urgent side effects seem pretty scary.

Visipaque should be fine for most people. It’s a commonly used contrast agent. The key is to stay calm and hydrated. Drink plenty of water before and after the scan. You can also ask the doctor to give you anti-allergens before the injection.

If you have any history of thyroid or kidney issues, make sure to mention it to your doctor. It might be safer to use another contrast agent. Just saying. Seemed like a lot of side effects for me so maybe just make sure your doctor is doing everything they can to minimize the risks

I had a kidney issue and the drug made it worse. I had to push for more tests. They found a blockage in my urinary tract. It was a relief to finally nail down the problem, but it was a rough road.

I had a bad experience with a similar dye. I developed a severe rash and had trouble breathing. It was terrifying. But, Visipaque has a pretty good safety record compared to others. Just make sure your doc knows your medical history.

This stuff made me feel warm and irritated at the injection site but that was it. No big deal. It was worth it to get the clear images.

If you’re nervous, ask the doctor to explain the procedure step-by-step. They should be willing to go over any concerns you have. It’s their job to help you feel comfortable.

This thread is kind of scary. What if the doctor misses a side effect?
