Just got a Bicillin CR 1200000 Units/2ml Syr shot for strep throat. What are your experiences or advice?
I recently had to get a Bicillin CR 1200000 Units/2ml Syr injection at my doctor's office to treat a nasty strep throat infection. The shot itself wasn't too bad, but I've read the list of possible side effects and I'm a bit concerned. Has anyone here gone through this treatment? How was your experience? Did you encounter any of the side effects? If so, what did you do? Any tips for making this easier?

I had no idea that diarrhea could be such a big deal with this stuff. I guess I'll be paying more attention to that if I ever need to take it. Thanks for the heads-up, everyone.
I've given Bicillin CR injections to a few patients. The key is to inject it into a large muscle group, like the glute or thigh, and to go slow. Also, apply a cold pack to the injection site afterwards to reduce discomfort. But do not massage the site, it worsens the pain.
I had Bicillin CR a couple of years ago and the shot was fine but the next day I woke up with the worst headache and felt so weak. It was only some hours and it went away. I did not look anything up until now. I guess I should have gone to the doctor. It's good to know that it can cause headaches.
I had a friend who had a really bad reaction to this stuff. She ended up in the hospital with some kind of blood disorder. I think it was methemoglobinemia? Anyway, be careful and if anything seems off, get to a doctor ASAP.
I had an allergic reaction once. I started swelling up almost immediately after the injection. It was terrifying. I had to go to the ER and get treated with epinephrine. If you start to feel like you can't breathe, go to the ER immediately.
I didn't have any serious side effects, but I did get really tired. Like, couldn't-keep-my-eyes-open tired. It was weird, but not as bad as some of the other stuff people are talking about.
The injection site was really sore for me, but that was the worst of it. I didn't have any of the serious side effects, thank goodness. Just be prepared for some discomfort at the injection site.
My doctor told me to watch out for signs of kidney problems. I had no idea this stuff could affect your kidneys! I didn't have any issues, but it's good to know what to look out for.
