Just got a Lidocaine 2% Injection for oral surgery! Anyone else have experience with this?
I'm scheduled for some dental work and my dentist recommended Lidocaine 2% Injection, 5ml. I've never had a local anesthetic like this before. I'm a bit nervous, so I'm wondering if anyone has had experience with this? How does it feel? Does it hurt to get the injection? And how long does the numbing effect last? This drug seems to have some serious side effects that are worrying me. Anyone know about that and what to do?

I work in a dentist office and Lidocaine is great for numbing the area, but it can be a bit uncomfortable if you tense up. Try to stay relaxed and talk to your dentist. Not everyone experiences side effects, but make sure to report anything unusual to your doctor.
I got a lidocaine injection in preparation of dental surgery, it was painful as it was a bit too close to the nerve, I had to get a nerve blocker after.
Lidocaine is usually good, but I did experience some ringing in the ears with it. I stopped taking it right away and my ears were fine.
I've had lidocaine injections for a few dental procedures and it was a great numbing agent. It didn't hurt to inject, just a little pinch. My mouth was numb for about 2-3 hours. I had no side effects.
Doctors use hand sanitizer and usually use a topical cream on the injection site before injecting. It's okay to say no to Lidocaine if you are uncomfortable.
I was on a medical regimen that required some testing. Lidocaine was used to numb the area and it worked great. The numbing effect lasted a few hours, which was great. I had no issues afterwards, just take it easy after.
This is the best thing for pain the best thing I can say is the injection was very painless and it was numbing me for the whole procedure, you won't feel a thing.
I had a lidocaine injection in preparation for wisdom teeth removal. I was incredibly nervous, but the dentist made me feel comfortable and he did it way faster than I expected. I had no side effects, it is a great numbing agent, used in clinics all over the world.
Lidocaine is a great local anesthetic, but it's important to remember that everyone's body reacts differently. If you experience any side effects, make sure to contact your doctor.
