I recently had surgery and was administered Exparel 1.3% Inj, 10ml to help manage post-operative pain. The doctor explained that it works by slowly releasing a numbing medication called Bupivacaine into the surgical site, helping to control pain for a few days afterward. I'm curious about what to expect in terms of side effects and any additional tips for managing the recovery process. Has anyone else had experience with this medication? What were your side effects and how did you cope with them? Any advice would be appreciated.

I had Exparel during my knee surgery and it was a lifesaver. The pain was significantly manageable, but I did experience some dizziness and a mild rash. My advice: stay hydrated and avoid strenuous activities for the first few days.

If you have any issues, don't hesitate to call your doctor. My nurse was great about answering questions and keeping a close eye on me. They even gave me a list of symptoms to watch out for.

I can't believe how many side effects there are. Reading this scares me more than the surgery. But I guess it’s better to be informed.

I had a similar experience. My doctor warned me about the potential for more serious side effects like allergic reactions and methemoglobinemia. Fortunately, I didn’t encounter any of those but staying vigilant is key. If you experience anything severe, go to the ER immediately.

Be prepared for some common side effects like headache or trouble sleeping. I found that over-the-counter pain relievers helped manage any lingering discomfort. Also, follow your doctor's instructions closely.

Exparel is great, but I had a horrible time with numbness and tingling. It was weird and almost unbearable. But my doc said it was normal and would pass. It did eventually. Just give it time.
