I finally got around to getting my Capvaxive 0.5ml IM Pfs(10 Pack) vaccine today. I've been hearing a lot about it as an alternative to the PCV13. It's supposed to protect against 21 different types of pneumococcal bacteria. Anyone else switched from PCV13 to this? How does it compare in terms of effectiveness and side effects? I'm a bit concerned about the side effects, especially the allergic reactions. I don't recall feeling too bad after PCV13, but I know everyone's different. Did anyone experience any issues, and if so, how did you manage them? Also, has anyone noticed any differences in how quickly they felt better after getting this shot?

I read that Capvaxive also helps prevent some ear infections and meningitis. So not only does it protect against pneumonia, but it's also got some extra benefits.

I had a pretty bad allergic reaction to the PCV13 vaccine a few years ago, so I was really nervous about getting Capvaxive. But my doctor assured me that the formulas are different enough that I shouldn't have the same reaction. Luckily, I didn't have any issues. It's still hard not to be nervous about it, especially after hearing some of the horror stories about allergic reactions.

Can anyone confirm if it's better to get Capvaxive or combine it with PCV13?

This vaccine is basically the evolved version of the pneumococcal vaccines we've been using for years. The FDA has worked hard to ensure Capvaxive covers more genotypes. This is imperative as some pneumococcal infections have developed resistance to the older strains
