Just got my eyes dilated with Cyclopentolate 1% Ophth Sol 15ml – anyone have any advice on dealing with the side effects?
I just got my eyes dilated with Cyclopentolate 1% Ophthalmic Solution 15ml for the first time. It's weird not being able to see clearly. The pharmacist gave me a list of side effects to watch for, but I'm curious if anyone has any tips on dealing with the temporary blindness and sensitivity to light. How long does it usually last? What can I do to be more comfortable? Also, I'm curious about the rare but serious side effects listed. Has anyone experienced any of these? If so, how soon after use did the symptoms appear? I'm a bit worried about having a bad reaction. How common are these serious side effects? Any advice would be appreciated!

I've had Cyclopentolate a few times and honestly, the side effects aren't that bad if you're prepared. Make sure to have someone drive you home and avoid bright lights.
I work with kids and that stuff can be really dangerous to administer for kids. I've even seen it in infants, and I've had to call the parents because of lack of response or pupil size changes.
It usually wears off in a few hours. Just take a nap and relax.
I think the serious side effects are pretty rare. I've never heard of anyone having those issues.
Saw some people talking about how they have had reactions. I've heard that those reactions have to do with the concentration of the drug. I've wondered if there are any interactions with other medications.
I've used it a few times and it's always just been mild discomfort, nothing serious.
I always get a bit freaked out by the light sensitivity. It feels like walking around with a sunburn. Maybe try staying indoors if you can.
Take it easy and wear your sunglasses. I can't do any screen work for a few hours after getting my eyes dilated. I'd rather be safe than sorry.
My mom had a really bad reaction to Cyclopentolate. She had hallucinations and trouble speaking. She had to go to the hospital.
I had some really bad eye pain and blurred vision after using it once. My eyes were super sensitive to light and I was so dizzy I couldn't stand up. I called the ophthalmologist and they said to stop using it.
