Just got my Pneumovax 23 shot – is it normal to feel this weak?
Hi everyone, I just got my Pneumovax 23 shot today and I'm feeling pretty weak and tired. I've had a headache and my arm is sore. Is this normal? I didn't expect to feel like this. I've read about the side effects, but I'm not sure if this is within the range of what to expect. Thanks for any insights! Also, anyone have any good remedies for the arm soreness as Im sure I have another shot coming up.
I am of healthy weight, no other medical issues, no other meds.
Thanks in advance!

I had some chills and felt a bit feverish. It sucked but it only lasted a day. I was hoping to avoid anything like that. Hooray for it being down to a day though. Of course mine happened over the weekend too. I was so mad about that.
Try using a cold compress on your arm for the soreness. It helped me a lot. Rest up and you'll feel better soon.
My arm was so sore I could hardly lift it. I ended up taking some ibuprofen to help with the pain. It worked like a charm! Just don't forget to call your dr before taking any other meds.
I felt the same way after my shot. It's normal to feel tired and run down. It will go away in a day or two. You just have to rest up. If it gets worse, call your dr though.
Weakness and fatigue are common side effects. Drink plenty of fluids and get lots of rest. You should bounce back quickly. it is also a good idea to eat something before you have an injection. You never know how you might react.
If you're feeling really bad, call your doctor. Better safe than sorry. You could have an adverse reation. It is scary to think of but it happens.
I got my shot at work and had to miss a day because I felt so crappy. But I was glad to have it done. Like everyone says, a little rest and a day or two… And you're good to go. Bring a good book or whatever you can use to distract you after though. The after stuff is pretty darn boring.
I didn't have any side effects at all. Maybe you're just sensitive to it. Gotta love the human body, right? Why do we do this again? I think I was more scared of the needle than anything else.
I had some pretty bad muscle and joint pain after mine. It was tough for a couple of days but it went away eventually. I would just focus on resting up and taking it easy if you can.
Remember, these vaccines are important to protect against serious infections. A little discomfort is worth it for that. Also, when did needles get so small? I was so relieved when mine was over.
