Just got my Pneumovax 23 shot – What to expect in terms of side effects?
I got my Pneumovax 23 vaccine today. I've heard mixed things about the side effects and I'm curious to know what others have experienced. For those who have had it, how bad were the side effects? Did anyone experience any of the more serious symptoms? I want to be prepared in case anything comes up. Also, how long did it take for any side effects to show up? Every bit of info helps!

I got mine a few weeks ago and only had some swelling at the injection site. It went away after a couple of days. No big deal.
Side effects are annoying but if it keeps me from getting pneumonia, meningitis, or bacteremia, I'm all for it.
Even with side effects, the vaccine was worth it. I feel like I have one less thing to worry about now.
I wish they would give more info on how to manage the side effects before you get the shot. Like, what exactly should you do if you feel really sick? Call your doctor immediately?
I had a pretty rough time with it. I had a headache for about a day and felt really tired. I also had some muscle aches, which was annoying but not too bad. Just make sure you rest up after getting the shot.
I didn't have any side effects at all! Knock on wood. Maybe I lucked out, but it could be that I didn't have a strong reaction to it.
