I work at an animal shelter and had to get the rabies vaccine (Imovax 1ml Im Kit) for my job. I've always been a bit nervous about vaccines and their side effects, especially since this one is given in the arm rather than the shoulder. Has anyone else had this vaccine and experienced any side effects? I felt pretty sore at the injection site for a day and a half and had a slight headache the entire day afterwards, but nothing major. How do other animal handlers deal with this?

Just a reminder, if you experience any unusual symptoms after getting the rabies vaccine, contact your doctor immediately. There are some rare but serious side effects that you should be aware of. It's always better to be safe.

I got the rabies vaccine a few years ago. It wasn't actually as bad as I thought. I just had a little pain at the injection site and a few aches and pains for a night. I was able to sleep through it without any major issues. Nothing like the flu shot I got last year.

I don't get why they have to give it in the arm instead of the shoulder. It seems like it could be just as effective if it's given in the shoulder. Anyone else think this way?

I got the rabies vaccine a few years back. I thought I was going to have a bad time but the only thing I had was a little bit of soreness around the injection site and no other symptoms. I was glad I didn't have any major issues. I expected a bit of flu-like symptoms, but I didn't get them at all. In fact, I had no other major side effects at all.

I actually felt really weak and tired for a couple days after getting the vaccine, but it went away pretty quickly. I think it was maybe a combination of the vaccine and just the stress of getting it, but it was pretty rough. I had a weird rash on the injection site for about a week, though. Not the biggest fan of it.
