I recently got my hands on the Rextovy 4mg/0.25ml Nasal Spray 2pk for emergency use. I live with someone who has opioid addiction and I want to be prepared in case of an overdose. The idea of having this nasal spray is comforting, but I'm a bit nervous about using it correctly. I've read that it's not a substitute for emergency medical care, and you should always call 911 after administering. I want to make sure I understand the process and potential side effects clearly. Anyone here have experience with administering naloxone? Any tips or advice?

Serious question: what happens if you accidentally give it to someone who didn't overdose? Is it dangerous?

My friend's mom had to use this on him. It was scary, but the spray worked. He was out cold, and after a few minutes, he was awake and breathing normally. Just make sure to keep the spray at room temperature and check the expiration date regularly.

Does anyone know if insurance covers this? I'm on a tight budget and the last thing I want is a surprise bill.

My paramedic friend says sometimes a second dose is needed. So if the person doesn't respond right away, don't panic. It might take a couple of doses to fully reverse the effects.
