I'm getting a CT scan soon and the doctor mentioned they'll be using Omnipaque 300mg/ml Inj, 100ml. I've read up on it, but I'm still a bit nervous. What can I expect during and after the procedure? Are there any side effects I should be aware of? I've heard about some pretty serious ones, but I'm not sure how common they are. Has anyone here had experience with this contrast agent?

If you have any concerns, make sure to tell the doctor or nurse before the procedure. They can monitor you closely and be ready to handle any reactions. Feeling a bit of warmth or a salty taste in your mouth is normal, but anything more severe should be reported right away. Diagnosis and treatment are key here

For me, the worst part was the feeling of warmth spreading through my body. It was uncomfortable, but not painful. And it only lasted a few minutes. My doctor mentioned that the feeling of warmth is common and nothing to worry about. Did you feel the warmth?

Omnipaque is generally safe, but it's important to talk to your doctor about any allergies or medical conditions you have. The rare side effects are scary, but they're just that—rare. Most people tolerate it well. Plus, some of the contrast agents can be similar to each other.

I had Omnipaque for an angiogram. The injection site was a bit sore afterward, and I felt warm all over for a few minutes, but otherwise, it was fine.

I'm really nervous about this. I have a history of allergic reactions, but my doctor says it's rare to react to Omnipaque. Plus the doctor said that if I get a reaction to Omnipaque they will be able to get me to the emergency room right away. I heard that you might be able to get in there pretty fast. What should I do?

What?!? I had no idea there were so many potential side effects. I just had an MRI with Omnipaque and I felt fine. It was at the hospital so I feel ok. Next time I will be sure to ask

I've had Omnipaque a few times for CT scans and never had any issues. Just make sure to drink plenty of water afterward to help flush it out of your system. I think I was told that by the nurse. But I had no issues, just a little fluid.

I once had to pass out at the hospital because of the Omnipaque. When I woke up my head was clear but I did not feel all there. I knew that I had to get checked and was okay. It was not the medication but I was told that my blood pressure was really low. As a nurse I have to say that it is a different patient each time.
