Just got prescribed Ampicillin 2gm Inj for a urinary tract infection - any experiences or tips?
I was just prescribed Ampicillin 2gm Inj for a urinary tract infection. I've never had to take this before, so I'm a bit nervous. The pharmacist went over the side effects with me, and some of them seem pretty scary. Has anyone else taken this? Did you have any side effects or any tips for managing them? I really want to make sure I take this correctly. If anyone has advice for how to cope with any potential side effects, that would be a huge help. Thanks in advance!.

I had to take Ampicillin for a skin infection a few years ago. I didn't have any major side effects, just some mild stomach upset. Make sure to take it with food to help with that. Also, finish the whole course even if you feel better!
I had to take this for a respiratory infection and it worked great but be careful because it can cause severe diarrhea.
Don't forget to space your doses evenly if you're supposed to take it multiple times a day. It can help reduce side effects.
Just finished a dose yesterday and my throat is so sore this morning.
Ampicillin is generally well-tolerated, but if you get severe diarrhea, make sure to hydrate and contact your doctor. It could be C. diff, which is no joke.
I've taken this a few times and never had issues, but everyone's different. Hope you feel better soon!
