I've just been prescribed Edetate calcium disodium (Edetate Calc 1000mg/5ml Inj) to treat lead poisoning. I'm not sure what to expect from the treatment or the side effects. Has anyone gone through this and had any tips to share? This is my first time dealing with something like this. I do know the treatment involves injections and it's crucial to stay well-hydrated. Are there any specific side effects I should be extra wary of? This forum has been so helpful in the past!

Remember, everyone is different. I had to deal with some really bad headaches during my treatment. My doctor had to adjust the dosage to help with that. Definitely keep the lines of communication open with your medical team. They are there to support you.

I had to take this a few years ago and while I was so glad the medicine worked, I also remember the pain at the injection site was awful. Over-the-counter pain relievers helped a lot. Good luck!

Yikes, that sounds rough. I can't imagine dealing with that. Some foods might help you with the side effects and you should ask your doctor if they are okay for your treatment. Ginger tea can really help with nausea and vomiting. Ginger tea makes great lemonade out of lemons. Just sayin.

I'm curious, how did you end up with lead poisoning? Was it occupational or environmental? And have you tried anything natural to help with detoxing?

I'm not a doctor, but I'd be prepared for some serious fatigue. I had a friend who went through this treatment and she said it kicked her butt. Staying hydrated is key, just like you mentioned!

I agree, Edetate Calc was a godsend for me. Make sure to keep a log of any side effects you experience. It will help your doctor adjust the treatment as needed and you will feel heard and taken care of, which is important for mental well-being.
