I've just been prescribed Midazolam 2mg/2ml Inj, 2ml for an upcoming medical procedure. The doctor said it would help me relax and not remember the procedure. I've never taken anything like this before and I'm not sure what to expect. Has anyone else taken Midazolam? What was your experience? I'm a bit nervous about the potential side effects, especially the serious ones. I know it's important to report things like allergic reactions or severe dizziness, but I'm wondering if anyone had any minor side effects that went away quickly? Also, how soon after taking it can you expect to feel drowsy? Any advice or personal stories would be really helpful!

I just had a procedure where I got Midazolam and something else to numb me up. I remember waking up and feeling really tired but I was relieved when the procedure was over. I was driving home with my partner and I had a panic attack. This was about an hour after the procedure or closer to two hours. I didn't know this was an after effect. The worst part was the feeling of no control over my movements. Like I couldn't move my arms when they did things completely out of my control. Like I was moving my arms and legs based on thoughts I wasn't having. Some people say this is a dissociative reaction. I don't know if this is normal but it was terrifying.

Be prepared for the amnesia effect - you won't remember much, if anything, afterwards. It's a bit weird but reassuring, knowing you won't recall the procedure.

Midazolam is a benzodiazepine, just like diazepam or alprazolam. It's a fairly potent sedative, so it's not just a matter of feeling relaxed, you will be sleeping during the procedure or shortly afterward. Make sure your driver knows about these effects so they can make sure you will be okay on the ride home. They should be a little concerned about you if you show signs of an allergic reaction.

I had some memory loss after taking Midazolam. I couldn't remember anything from the day before or the day of the procedure. It was weird trying to piece things together. It was not a big deal in the end. It was like having a big gap in my memory.

Midazolam is pretty standard for procedures like yours. It helped me stay calm during my colonoscopy. I didn't remember anything afterward, which was a plus. My only side effect was some minor dizziness the next day, but it went away quickly.

Not sure why you're nervous. It's just a sedative. Just make sure to follow all the instructions and you'll be fine.

Midazolam can cause some serious side effects, so don't just brush it off. If you feel anything weird, tell your doctor. Better safe than sorry. I've seen videos of people having reactions and it's freaky. It can cause some of the same breathing issues as fentanyl use.

I've had it a few times for dental work. It's not fun to feel so out of it, but it's worth it for the procedure to be over. It's a mental thing I feel stiff and weak in the after effects, but it goes away. Something about feeling like my arms and legs aren't responding the same.

My friend had a similar experience and had some problems with short-term memory loss. I would imagine anyone taking this should have a partner or friend to help them out in the days following.

I had a really bad reaction to Midazolam. I started itching all over and my throat felt tight. Turns out I was allergic. It was scary, but the doctors acted fast and gave me something to counteract it. If you start feeling weird, tell someone right away.
