Just got prescribed Monurol 3gm Single Dose Packet for a UTI - anyone have experience with this antibiotic?
I've just been prescribed Monurol 3gm Single Dose Packet for an uncomplicated bladder infection (UTI). I'm curious to know if anyone else has used this before. The instructions say it's a single dose that you mix with water and drink. I've heard that antibiotics can have some side effects, and I'm a bit nervous about that. Does anyone know about any common side effects or anything else I should be aware of before taking this? And how fast does it usually work on the UTI?
Also, if anyone has any tips on how to mix the powder and drink it, that would be helpful too! Thanks in advance.

I've had recurrent UTIs and Monurol has never failed me. It tastes awful so I mix with a LOT of water sometimes adding a bit of juice to mask the taste. It works so fast, within 24 hours I feel better. Of course, always consult with your doctor before taking any medication. Be safe.
I had a UTI years ago and my doctor prescribed Monurol. I didn't have any issues with it but I do remember it being a breeze to take. One dose and done in a day. I haven't had a UTI since and I'm so grateful. Though I'm not sure if I'd take it again because I've heard mixed reviews. It's always wise to consult a doctor regarding any medication.
I took Monurol about a month ago. I had a bad case of hives the next day, went to urgent care and they said it was likely an allergic reaction to the antibiotic. I was so disappointed because I was really hoping to avoid further antibiotics. I ended up with a different antibiotic and was prescribed Benadryl. I had to make sure my doctor knew what had happened, and they were a bit surprised. Unfortunately, I had to switch my doctor because of that. Always good to keep an eye on the immune system.
I've had a bad reaction to antibiotics before so I was nervous about taking Monurol. I had a headache for a day or so but that was about it. Really glad I didn't have a bad reaction again.
Yeah, I had a similar experience with the diarrhea. It was pretty intense but it only lasted a day or so! Definitely keep some anti-diarrheal stuff on hand.
I had Monurol once and it was terrible. The taste was awful and I had a lot of stomach issues for almost a week.
My friend recommended Monurol. She said it is a good antibiotic for UTIs but it has a whacked taste, also it may not work for everyone and can cause some trouble later so be careful.
Be careful with the powder and water mixture. I tried mixing it with too much water and it made it really hard to drink. Definitely go for less water and just chug it down. Also, if you have any sign of an allergic reaction like hives or difficulty breathing, get to a doctor immediately but I'm sure you'll be fine.
I had to take Monurol last year and it worked wonders! I mixed it with a small amount of water and drank it all at once. I didn't experience any severe side effects, just a bit of an upset stomach. But it cleared up my UTI super fast, like within 24 hours.
I've taken Monurol a couple of times and it's been really effective. Make sure to finish the dose even if you feel better. The side effects can be tough, especially the diarrhea. I had some really bad cramps and watery stools after taking it. It only lasted a day or so, but it was unpleasant. Drink plenty of water and eat some probiotics if you can. I would make sure you have some Immodium on hand just in case.
