I took my child in for their IPOL 0.5ml Im/sq Mdv (10 Dose) vaccine today. The nurse assured me it's safe and effective, but I'm a bit nervous about potential side effects. The vaccine info sheet lists some serious side effects, but it also says they're rare. I'm wondering if any of you have experience with this vaccine? What were your experiences like? Did your child have any reactions, and if so, how severe were they? Any tips on how to manage mild side effects like fever or irritability would be much appreciated. I want to be prepared but I don't want to worry too much either. Thanks in advance!

What kind of reaction did your child have? I'm assuming you mean something other than the usual fever or pain at the injection site.

It's always a good idea to report any side effects to VAERS, just in case. Better safe than sorry.

Doubting the vaccine science is nuts. This vaccine prevents a horrible disease. Just be grateful that we have it.

My kid had a mild fever and was a bit irritable for a day, but that was it. Just keep an eye on them and call the doctor if you notice anything unusual.

I had the vaccine as a kid and I don't remember anything serious. But I do remember having a sore arm for a couple of days. Just keep an eye on the injection site.

I didn't notice any side effects at all with my kid. No fever, no irritability, nothing. I think every child is different, though.

My kid had a really bad reaction to an MMR vaccine, though, so I'm not taking any chances. I'm going to keep a close eye on them.

I'm not a fan of vaccines, but this one is crucial. Polio is no joke. Just monitor your kid closely and if something serious happens, go to the ER.
