Hey everyone, I just got my first dose of the Vaqta 1ml IM vaccine for Hepatitis A. I'm an adult and have had no previous contact with the virus. The doctor explained it's given in two doses, so I'll need to go back in six months for the second shot. Has anyone else gone through this? Any tips on managing potential side effects or knowing what to expect? I'm feeling a bit worried about the possible severe reactions, even though they're rare. On the other hand, I know how serious Hepatitis A can be, so I want to be as prepared as possible for any discomfort or issues that might come up. Do any other adults over 19 have experience with this vaccine?

I had a friend who got really sick after getting the Vaqta shot. He had a high fever and was throwing up all night. He thought it was the flu at first, but turned out to be a reaction to the vaccine. He didn't end up going back for the second dose because it was so bad. It's so rare, but it can happen. Stay hydrated and rest if you can.

I had the vaccine a few years back. The worst thing I experienced was a sore arm for a couple of days. I've had the flu be worse than that. I am really glad that I was vaccinated. I knew someone who caught hepatitis A and it was a long and slow recovery. Stay hydrated and rest for the first day or 2 and you will be fine.

I had a severe reaction to a different vaccine once, so I was really nervous about getting the Vaqta shot. My doctor assured me that severe reactions are rare, but to watch for signs of an allergic reaction like swelling, hives, or difficulty breathing. I had a little redness and itching at the injection site, but it went away quickly. You should be okay, just keep an eye out for any unusual symptoms.

I'm glad I got vaccinated! I travel a lot, and Hepatitis A is a real risk in some places. I had a slight fever and felt tired for a couple of days, but it was worth it to know I'm protected. Plus, I never felt any strange tingling, numbness or burning. I think the vaccine is totally worth it if you ever travel abroad.

Make sure to stay hydrated and rest if you feel any side effects. I had a mild fever and felt pretty tired after my first dose, but it passed within a couple of days. The second dose was even easier. Just remember to take it easy for a bit and you should be fine.

I work with kids who have chronic illnesses so I got the Vaqta vaccine. I didn't experience any side effects at all! I wish I could say this for all vaccines I have received.
