I just had a dental procedure where they used Xylocain-Epineph 1%1:200k Inj, 30ml for local anesthesia. I've heard about some potential side effects, but I'm curious if anyone else has experienced them. The med contains Lidocaine and Epinephrine, which are pretty standard but can have some serious side effects. I noticed a bit of lightheadedness afterwards, and I'm wondering if that's normal or if it's something to worry about. I've read that it's pretty rare, but the potential for things like seizures or breathing difficulties is scary. Anyone have any insights or similar experiences? Also, if you have any tips for managing side effects, feel free to share!

I've always found Lidocaine to be pretty reliable, but I've heard horror stories about severe reactions to Epinephrine. If you ever feel short of breath or start seeing blue or gray discoloration around your lips, nails, or skin, get to the ER immediately. This is a rare but serious condition called methemoglobinemia.

I think that lidocaine is more commonly used in dental procedures. The epinephrine adds some depth to the anesthetic but it can also help reduce the bleeding. I haven't had any problems but I know a few people that have had some problems with it. I would recommend contacting your doctor if you have any concerns.

I've had a couple of procedures with this anesthetic and felt no side effects at all. I do have a fast metabolism so that might help. But overall, it's pretty standard and most people should be fine.

If you experience any severe side effects, like seizures or breathing difficulties, go to the ER immediately. Epinephrine can cause some serious reactions and can even lead to death if it goes untreated. Being careful and quick to act is always the way to go

I had the same thing done and I felt fine afterwards. But I have a pretty high tolerance for anesthesia, so that might be why. Your lightheadedness could just be a minor side effect of the Epinephrine. Probably nothing to worry about unless it gets worse.

I had Xylocain-Epineph 1%1:200k Inj, 30ml for a minor procedure and felt a burning sensation around the injection site. Turns out I'm allergic to Epinephrine, so always be aware of what you're allergic to before any procedures. The chances are slim but they can be life threatening.

If you're feeling lightheaded, just lie down and take deep breaths. That should help. I also had some weird tingling sensations after my procedure, but it went away after a few hours. If yours doesn't, definitely call your doctor.

I experienced some pretty bad side effects. I had a severe headache for a couple of hours and felt super dizzy. It was as if I was going to faint any second. I had to go back to the emergency room but they said it should not be anything that I should worry about. They do not have that many reports about such side effects.

Don't forget to report any side effects to the FDA! They need that data to track how common these issues are. You can do it online or by calling 1-800-332-1088. I've also had side effects with other anesthetics and they always ask if I've reported them.

I had a similar experience with lightheadedness and also felt a bit jittery afterwards. I was told it was normal and it subsided within a day. Just drink lots of fluids and rest up. Oh, and no driving for a while.
