I just got out of the hospital and I got a saline drip containing Dextrose 5%/nacl 0.3%. Does anyone know the benefits or risks of this? I did a bit of research and couldn't find much information.

Dextrose 5%/nacl 0.3% is just a fancy name for a sugar and salt water mixture. It's used to replace fluids and electrolytes in your body. The dextrose gives you a bit of energy, and the sodium chloride helps keep your body fluids balanced. It's pretty standard stuff, but always good to know the potential side effects.

Sounds like you had a rough time. Just make sure to follow your doctor's instructions and take it easy for a bit. Don't push yourself too hard too soon.

The hard part is having to stay still while the IV is in. I hate needles and having to wait while the drip goes in is torture.

I've had a few of these over the years. The key is to stay hydrated before and after. Drink lots of water and avoid alcohol. If you're worried about side effects, talk to your doctor.
