I was recently prescribed Olanzapine 10mg injection for severe agitation related to bipolar disorder. My doctor said it would help balance certain natural substances in the brain, but I'm really worried about the side effects, especially the serious ones like movement problems or mental changes. I had a rough time with my first injection—it really knocked me out. I just want to know if anyone has experience with this and any advice on how to manage side effects or cope with the initial shock of this medication. I've already read about the possible side effects, but I'd love to hear from people who have actual experience with this. I'm also curious about whether the injection is better or worse than oral medication for long-term use, but mainly I'm just hoping to get some tips on how to get through the first few days.

I had a bad reaction to the injection and I’ve been trying oral instead. The injection was horrible—I was shaky and incredibly dizzy for hours. So far, the oral has seemed better.

I’ve been on Olanzapine for a while now, and while it made my agitation better it made me gain weight. A lot. And I developed some movement problems, so I had to get a good relationship with a neurologist. I wish I had known more about the side effects before starting.

It’s rough, but it gets better. I went through a few rough patches, but now, the medication keeps my symptoms in check and I feel great. It’s worth it, despite the drawbacks. Just be careful and enjoy the ride, it could be what you needed.

I switched to a lower dose and it’s been easier to handle. Sometimes the high dose is too overwhelming, so talk to your doctor about adjusting if needed. Good luck, and don’t lose hope—it will get easier.
