I've just been prescribed Doxycycline Monohyd 25mg/5ml Susp to treat a respiratory infection. I've never taken this before and I'm a bit nervous about the potential side effects. Has anyone else taken this? What was your experience like? I'm particularly worried about the rare but serious side effects. Any advice on how to manage these or should I just be prepared to call the doctor?

I've used this medication for treating malaria. I'm glad I did it, because the symptoms started to fade away after a day of usage. It is a powerful antibiotic.

This is when I feel like the nurse saying the same things every day is an advantage. My Nurse once told me to read the instructions patiently. I think that's the best solution to avoid complications.

I've taken antibiotics before and I've always been worried about the diarrhea. What do I do when this happens? Since reading the above comments, Could I just call my doctor whenever this happens?

I took Doxycycline for acne a few years back. I had some stomach issues initially, but they went away after a few days. I didn't have the serious side effects but I was really careful about taking it with food and staying hydrated. Doxycycline loves to interact with other medications, so be sure to check that you don’t have to worry about that.

Don't forget to take it with food! I took it on an empty stomach and it was not a good time.

I took Doxycycline for a skin infection and it worked wonders. No serious side effects for me, but I did get some mild stomach upset. Make sure to take it with food and drink plenty of water. I also made sure to avoid direct sunlight, as it can cause severe sunburns.

Doxycycline is a strong antibiotic. Stay hydrated and drink plenty of water. Good luck!
