I've just been prescribed Meropenem 2gm Inj, 1 Vial for a severe infection, and I'm feeling a bit overwhelmed. I understand it's a strong antibiotic used to treat serious bacterial infections in different parts of the body, like the abdomen, skin, and brain (meningitis). It works by killing the bacteria that cause these infections. I've read about the potential side effects, which range from mild discomfort to severe, life-threatening conditions. I'm wondering if anyone has any personal experiences or advice on managing these side effects. Also, I'm curious about the specifics of administering this medication—is it always done in a hospital setting, or can it be self-administered at home with proper medical guidance? Any insights would be greatly appreciated!

Wow, everyone's talking serious stuff. I had Meropenem too, and honestly, it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. Just a bit of an upset stomach. Knock on wood.

I've had it twice. The first time was in a hospital, the second time I was allowed to do it at home. I felt lucky to be home, but the risk of side effects was very real. If you're doing it at home, have someone around to help. I would get really dizzy and confused. The one silver lining was that my infection cleared up fast.

If anyone feels super tired and can't get out of bed, please talk to your doctor as soon as possible. It might be a sign of a severe reaction. Had to learn this lesson when I was treating a close relative.

Just want to echo what others have said. If you feel a little better, you might feel inclined to skip a dose. DON'T do that. Follow the rx guidelines carefully. Doctor knows what they're doing.

Meropenem can be administered both in a hospital and at home, depending on the severity of your infection and your overall health. Make sure you get proper training if you're administering it yourself. Also, be very careful with hygiene to avoid spreading any infection further.

I had to use Meropenem during a severe case of pneumonia. It was intense, but it worked. The worst part was the constant feeling of being incredibly tired and weak. I could barely get out of bed. Make sure to rest as much as possible. Also, be aware of any signs of an allergic reaction—it can be scary.

I had a scary experience with allergic reactions to Meropenem, the rash was so bad my face was swelled up like I was in a balloon. I had to stop the medication right away and see an allergy specialist. It's horrible to deal with, I can only imagine if it's life threatening what might happen. Seek medical help as soon as you feel something is off.

I was worried about the seizures mentioned in the side effects, but my doctor assured me that it's very rare. Still, it's good to be prepared and know the signs. They say it's life threatening, but also can be managed. Take it easy.

I had to use Meropenem a few years back during a severe case of meningitis. The side effects were tough, especially the diarrhea and muscle aches. Make sure you stay hydrated and talk to your doctor about any concerns. Also, I highly recommend documenting your symptoms daily to track any unusual changes.

Anyone else get super short of breath? I thought I was dying.
