I just got prescribed Cortrosyn 0.25mg Vial For Inj, or Cosyntropin, for some adrenal gland tests. I've never heard of this drug before and the side effects list is a bit scary. Has anyone else gone through this? What was your experience like? I'm particularly nervous about the high blood pressure and allergic reactions, so any advice would be great!

I had to go through this test a few years ago. It's not fun, but it's important to diagnose any issues. Stay hydrated and listen to your doctor's instructions. Don't worry too much about the side effects, they are rare.

I got this test done after some weird symptoms. I ended up having to get the vial up to hospital cause I got a severe headache. But, after that the test went well. I wouldn't have been able to do it without my nurse helping.

I had a similar test and it was fine. Just make sure to communicate with your doctor if you feel any discomfort or other symptoms. Better safe than sorry, even if it’s a minor thing.

Did your doctor explain why they chose this specific dosage? I had a similar test and it seemed like a lot of hassle.

I had this test done a couple of years ago and I was terrified, but I didn't experience any major side effects. Just a bit of discomfort. Definitely worth it to get the answers you need.

I am not sure about this test. I have heard the stories and I have many questions. I hope your test goes well!

Aren't adrenal glands like the tiny beans on top of your kidneys? I always wondered what they did. I guess this is how we find out.

I had the test and it was fine but I found it annoying to do. If you get it done make sure you talk to the doctor first. You will have a much easier time.

I work in a lab and we use Cortrosyn for testing purposes. It's a standard procedure, but yes, the side effects can be scary. Make sure you're in a medical setting when you get the injection. No need to panic about the side effects.
