I was just prescribed Esmolol HCl 10mg/ml Injection, 10ml. I'm a bit nervous as I've never had an IV medication before. It's for an emergency procedure to control my heart rate during surgery. The side effects list is long, and some are pretty scary. Has anyone had experience with this? How was your experience? What did you notice during and after the procedure? I don't know what to expect and the internet is full of scary stories. Any advice?

Wow, that's intense. Make sure to ask your doctor about monitoring during the procedure. That should help put your mind at ease.

I've never had it, but my mom had a similar experience with a different drug. She said the monitoring was constantly and that made her feel safe. She also mentioned the doctor went through everything before the procedure, so she knew what to expect.

I had a procedure with Esmolol a few years back. The worst part was the anxiety leading up to it. The actual procedure was quick, and I didn't feel much. Recovery was a breeze too. Just make sure you have a good support system during the recovery period.

This is what it feels like to have a heart that doesn't work right... scary!

Esmolol is often used for critical heart issues. If your doctor thinks it's necessary, you're in good hands. Just remember to monitor for side effects and trust your medical team. They know what they're doing.

Esmolol is a powerful drug, but it's often used in critical situations because it works quickly and can be adjusted in real-time. I had a similar experience during an emergency where my heart rate was through the roof. The medical team was great and monitored me closely. Honestly, I didn't feel much due to the anesthesia, but I woke up feeling fine.

Be careful, Esmolol is strong stuff. Make sure your doctors know what they're doing.
