I was recently prescribed Albuked Hum 25% Inj, 100ml. The doctor said it’s albumin, a natural protein found in blood, given intravenously to replace lost fluids, maintain blood volume, and support my body carrying important substances. I've read about potential side effects like allergic reactions, high blood pressure, and more which is a bit scary. I’ve never had an IV infusion before, so I don’t really know what to expect. I know it's often used in conditions where the body has lost a lot of fluid or isn't making enough protein, like after severe burns, surgery, or certain liver or kidney diseases. Can anyone share their experiences or tips on getting this infusion? Thank you!

Has your doctor explained how frequent the infusions will be? I had to go through a series after liver surgery. The frequent infusions got a bit tiring, but it was manageable. Always ask for a tip to help with fluid intake. It helps if you get constipated.

Were you given specific instructions on how to handle any side effects post-infusion? For me, I had to monitor for signs of allergic reactions and fluid overload. If anything unusual comes up, make sure to contact your healthcare provider immediately. Also make sure you mention any supplements you take. Some of them may interact with the infusion and affect the results.

No side effects? You're lucky. It's not usually a big deal but I had a lot of dizziness after my first one. I had to stop driving to work for a while.

Albumin infusions can be a bit intimidating at first, but they're usually straightforward. The IV process itself isn’t painful, just make sure you stay hydrated and listen to your nurse's instructions. Keep a record of any adverse effects and discuss them with your doctor.

This whole thread has made me realize I need to research this some more. I had no idea it was so common. Thanks all.

The way I see it, the risks and side effects are pretty rare. It sounds like you have no choice but to do this. Just keep your doctor in the loop and you'll be fine. Good luck!

It might be a good idea to contact a nurse from the infusion center if you have lingering questions. They can give you personalized advice. I found it super helpful.

I've had this before after a bad reaction. The nurse was really supportive. It went fine, but I was anxious like you. You'll be fine!

I work in a hospital and have seen a lot of albumin infusions. The key is to stay calm and follow your doctor's and nurse's advice. Some patients might feel cold or shiver during the infusion, which is normal. But if you experience a severe reaction, like hives, difficulty breathing, or severe headache, seek medical help immediately. It's better to be safe.
