My doctor just prescribed me Nexium I.V. 40mg for some serious stomach issues. I looked up the side effects and some of them are pretty scary. Has anyone else had to take this? How did it go? I'm a bit nervous about the injection part and the potential side effects. I wanted to know if anyone had experienced upside effects like a significant reduction in stomach pain, or if the side effects were as bad as they seem. Thanks in advance!

I'm on my second round of this stuff. The first time, I had no side effects. This time, I've had some pretty bad diarrhea. I'm not sure why it would be different, but I've been taking this medication for a month, and I've been monitoring my stool for blood. That is a very important thing to note. I've been looking for diarrhea medication. I am scared of this diarrhea.

I had to take this after a bad flare-up of ulcers. The injection wasn't too bad, but I did experience some constipation. I'd recommend making sure you're drinking plenty of water and eating plenty of fiber if that ends up happening. It did help with the ulcers, though. Good luck!

Why do all the good drugs have to be injections? I had a really bad reaction to an antibiotic once and ended up needed this for a week. I can confirm that it sucks, but it worked. I got through it. Just don't have them inject you in the butt. (Trust me on this one.)

I've never had to take it, but I've known people who have. I've noticed that people were always better within a day or two. It's not the worst injection I've ever seen. Also, make sure you take anti-emetics if you feel like you are going to puke. Another thing to note, it is really really important to take your anti-diarrheals if you feel like you are going to poop.
