Just started Amoxicillin 125mg/5ml Susp 80ml for my kid's ear infection. What should I expect?
I've just started giving my kid Amoxicillin 125mg/5ml Susp 80ml for an ear infection. The doctor said it should help, but I'm a bit worried about the side effects. Has anyone else given this to their kids? How did it go? What should I expect? Also, if the kid has diarrhea, how can you know it's just a side effect and not something more serious?

My kid had a similar infection and Amoxicillin worked great. Just make sure to finish the entire course even if symptoms improve.
Amoxicillin is generally well-tolerated, but keep an eye out for signs of a severe allergic reaction, such as trouble breathing or swelling of the face. If you see any of that, get help right away
My doctor said the best way to give it is with a full glass of water. It can be a little bitter so maybe mix it with some juice?
If your kid gets an upset stomach, try giving the medication with food. It might help reduce nausea.
My kid had a fever with her ear infection. The doctor said that's normal and it should get better with the antibiotic.
UNRELATED: Yeah, the common cold is brutal this year.
Avoid dairy while on Amoxicillin. It can decrease the effectiveness. Also, keep an eye out for any signs of an allergic reaction. It's rare, but it can happen.
My nephew got Amoxicillin for a skin infection. He got a rash, but the doc said it was probably from some other meds he was on at the time. It's hard to know without a doctor.
