I've been diagnosed with hypertension and my doctor prescribed Atacand HCT 32-25mg to help manage it. I understand it combines candesartan and hydrochlorothiazide to control my blood pressure. I've heard about the typical side effects, but I'm curious if anyone has experienced any surprises or anything that wasn't mentioned in the patient leaflet. I've also read that there are some serious side effects to look out for, like signs of high blood sugar, fluid and electrolyte problems, and even lupus. It's a bit overwhelming, so any personal experiences or tips would be greatly appreciated!

On a lighter note, if you're not used to the drug making you urinate more, invest in some good waterproof sheets... pee-bluetooth is no joke!

This drug works wonders for me, but I've had some muscle cramps. I drink plenty of water and use a magnesium supplement to help. A lot of people don't mention how important it is to stay hydrated.

Any non-blood pressure related side effects? I've been so worried about the electrolyte imbalances and lupus. It's pretty scary to think about.

I've been on Atacand HCT for a while and haven't had any serious issues, but I did notice some increased sensitivity to the sun. Make sure to use lots of sunscreen!
