I was recently diagnosed with multiple sclerosis (MS) and my doctor prescribed me Avonex 30mcg Pen Kit (4 Pens). It's an injectable medication that I need to take once a week. I am a bit apprehensive about the injections. Has anyone else used this medication? How did you handle the initial injections and side effects? What can I expect in the first few months? Any advice or tips on making this process easier would be greatly appreciated.

I've been on Avonex for a couple of years now. The flu-like symptoms were tough at first, but they got better over time. I use a heating pad on the injection site to numb it before injecting, and it helps a lot. Also, make sure to take Tylenol about an hour before your shot to reduce the flu-like symptoms. Good luck!

I had pretty bad flu-like symptoms from it. It was tough, but my neurologist assured me it would get better. I had to take Tylenol before the injection and for a few hours afterwards. It worked for me.

I had a weird rash after starting Avonex. Turns out it was an allergic reaction. Make sure to keep an eye out for any unusual symptoms and report them to your doctor.

Avonex is great but the injections can be scary. Stick it out, you'll get used to it. Remember, it's a small price to pay for keeping MS in check
