Hey everyone, I was recently diagnosed with a urea cycle disorder and my doctor prescribed Buphenyl Powder to help manage my symptoms. I've started taking it mixed with food as directed, but I'm curious if anyone else has experience with this medication. How has it worked for you? Any tips for mixing it into food or drinks? I'm particularly interested in hearing about any side effects you've experienced and how you've managed them. Also, if you have any advice on whether or not to report side effects to the FDA, I'd really appreciate it. Thanks in advance!

I've been on Buphenyl for a few years now. It's definitely helped with managing my ammonia levels, but it took some trial and error to find the best way to mix it. I usually add it to applesauce or yogurt. It can be a bit challenging at first, but it's worth it to find a method that works for you. Always consult your doctor before making any changes. Also, if you experience any serious side effects, don't hesitate to seek medical attention immediately.

I heard Buphenyl can cause some changes in body odor. Anyone else?

I'd say give it a month and see the results. It might take some getting used to but it’s worth it in the long run. Take care and let us know how it goes.

A friend of mine on Buphenyl said it was really helpful for managing their ammonia levels, but the side effects were a bit rough. Just make sure to stay in touch with your doctor and keep an eye on those symptoms. You got this!

I didn't realize Buphenyl could cause menstrual changes. Does anyone know if that's a common side effect?

I had a bad case of nausea when I started. I found that taking smaller doses more frequently helped. Be consistent with it. It’s a pain, but consistency is the key.

I just started Buphenyl too. I’ve been mixing it with water and squeezing a lemon in. Good luck!
