Just started Citalopram 20mg for my depression - anyone else have experiences to share?
Hey all, I've just started taking Citalopram 20mg tablets for my depression, my doctor prescribed it saying it should help with my mood and serotonin levels. I've heard a lot about SSRIs, but I'm still nervous about the side effects I might face. I'd love to hear from anyone else out there who's taken this medication and knows what to expect.

I was really hesitant to start but I took the leap a month ago, feeling more steady each day, but what are the side effects like if I want to try and wean off this later?
Don't mix it with other medications without checking with your doctor. I made that mistake and ended up in the ER.
I've been on Citalopram for about three months now, and it's been a lifesaver. I had some initial side effects like nausea and dizziness, but they went away after a few weeks. Hang in there, it gets better!
Be careful with the side effects, especially the serious ones. I had a friend who had a really bad reaction to it.
Serotonin syndrome is no joke. If you start feeling agitated or confused, seek medical help immediately.
Give it a few weeks to really kick in. You might feel a bit off at first, but stick with it.
