I was recently prescribed Citalopram 40mg tablets to help with my depression. I've been taking them for a week now, and I'm noticing some side effects. I'm wondering if anyone else has experienced similar issues. I've been feeling pretty drowsy and have a dry mouth most of the time. I've also had some trouble sleeping at night. Are these common side effects, or should I talk to my doctor about them? Has anyone else had any weird side effects that weren't listed in the literature? I appreciate any advice or shared experiences!

Why do they always tell you it's safe? I've had it all – the lot. Losing weight, weight gain, insomnia, the whole works. I'm just waiting for the magic to finally work. It hasn't so far.

Remember, everyone is different. What works for one person might not work for another. Be sure to talk to your doctor about any lasting issues you have.

I've been on Citalopram for a few months and the drowsiness and dry mouth are pretty normal. It took me a while to adjust, but it gets better. Just make sure to stay hydrated and maybe talk to your doctor about adjusting the dosage or time of day you take it.

I was on Citalopram and had to switch because of the sexual side effects. It sucked, but I'm glad I found something that works better for me. Just keep in mind it might not be the perfect fit for everyone.

I had the same issues when I started, but they went away after about two weeks. Just be patient and keep your doctor in the loop.

I had a weird side effect – I gained a few pounds. I'm not sure if it's the medication or just my body adjusting. Has anyone else experienced this?

I read somewhere that eating a lot of citrus fruits can help with dry mouth. Just a tip from a fellow sufferer. The hoarding of mint gum will keep your family entertained too.

Sleep disturbances are common in the beginning. I found that taking it in the morning helped me. Also, try not to worry too much – it can take a few weeks for your body to adjust to the medication. Good luck!

Really appreciate everyone's positive stories. I'm hoping things get better soon but I have to admit I'm feeling a bit down about the whole thing. You're not alone and it's all going to work out.
