Just started Diovan HCT 160mg/25mg - anyone else on this combo?
I was just prescribed Diovan HCT 160mg/25mg for high blood pressure. I'm wondering if anyone else out there is on this combo of valsartan and hydrochlorothiazide. How's it working for you? I've heard it can cause some weird side effects, so I'm a bit nervous.

Make sure to monitor your blood pressure regularly. It's worked for me, but I had to adjust the dose a few times.
My doctor told me to watch for signs of high blood sugar. I'm not diabetic, but it's good to be cautious.
My doctor told me to avoid licorice and NSAIDs while on this. Something about them interfering with the medication.
I've not experienced any side effects (yet). I've been a bit nervous about it because of the warnings but seems to be doing the job.
I've been on it for a few months, it's been good so far. Just make sure to stay hydrated and keep an eye on your potassium levels.
I switched to this from my previous BP meds because of the side effects, and it's been a game changer. No more headaches and dizziness.
I take this for my kidney problems, and it's been a nightmare. Tried everything and the side effects are too much to handle.
Diovan HCT is a good combo, but temperature changes can be annoying. I have to dress in layers.
