Just started Doxycycline Hyclate 50mg DR Tb: What side effects should I watch out for?
I've just started taking Doxycycline Hyclate 50mg DR Tb for a skin infection. I've heard it can have some nasty side effects, so I wanted to ask: What should I be keeping an eye out for? The medication guide is a bit overwhelming. Has anyone had any scary experiences, or been pleasantly surprised? This is my first time taking an antibiotic like this, so any tips would be welcome.

I had some pretty nasty diarrhea, but it’s common with antibiotics. Just keep hydrated and monitor symptoms— you know, don’t let it go too long without checking in with a doc if it gets serious.
It's crazy how different people react to the same meds. I had none of the serious side effects, but I did experience some dizziness. I can't afford to hit the brakes on my way to work and got a speeding ticket.
I've had a couple of bad stomach issues with this drug, but I'm not sure I should be taking it without food. I know you're supposed to take it on an empty stomach, but I’ve had issues with nausea. Maybe I’ll talk to the doc about switching to a different antibiotic.
I got some scary vision problems, which the doc said was a rare side effect. I'm just glad I got to a doctor right away. Definitely keep an eye on anything vision-related.
I had a friend who had some serious liver problems with this. I'm not saying it's common, but it's worth knowing what to watch out for. Keep an eye on that dark urine, and definitely go see a doctor if you have any of the liver issues listed.
I would watch out for any signs of pancreatitis. I'm a nurse, and I've seen how quickly that can get dangerous. Plus, you know, antibiotic resistance is a thing, so I'd make sure to finish the entire prescription. Better safe than sorry.
