I was recently diagnosed with hypothyroidism and prescribed Euthyrox 0.125mg (125mcg) tablets. I've started taking them, but I'm a bit nervous about the potential side effects. I've read the list, and it's a bit overwhelming. Has anyone else had experience with this medication? I'd love to hear about your journey, any tips on managing side effects, or just general advice. How long did it take for you to start feeling better? Did you notice any significant changes in your symptoms? Also, I'm curious about the hair loss side effect—I've heard it's temporary, but has anyone experienced it? How long did it last?

I experienced hair loss when I first started taking Euthyrox, but it was temporary like the doctor said. It took about 6 months for my hair to go back to normal. I enjoyed the extra headroom for my hairbrushes in the meantime. And the hair loss wasn't so bad that I had to cut my hair shorter. It was just more shedding than usual. I also noticed my nails grew faster and stronger.

I started with a 0.125 dose but needed to increase to 0.25 eventually. I'd recommend keeping a food diary for the first few weeks to see if any foods in particular make you feel worse. I found that dairy products made my symptoms worse. It's also important to note that some foods, like soy and cruciferous vegetables, can interfere with the absorption of levothyroxine. But it's important to find what works for you and adjust accordingly. If you notice any changes in your symptoms, let your doctor know right away and get a checkup. This is a real life saver, dont worry so much my friend.

Be careful with the 0.125mg dose. It's easy to accidentally take more than you should. I've found it helpful to set a reminder on my phone to take my medication at the same time every day. Also, make sure to store your medication properly. I keep mine in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. I've found that this helps to keep the medication stable and effective.

Be patient with the process. Ive been on levothyroxine for years. With a couple different doctors and many different doses. Now that Ive gotten most of the way to where I need to go at 150mcg/day... I cant tell you how wonderful I feel. This stuff is a life saver!
