So, I just picked up Firvanq (vancomycin) 25mg/ml Solution to treat a C. diff infection. I was given some instructions at the pharmacy, but I'm still a bit worried about the side effects. I've heard some horror stories about other antibiotics, so I'm hoping this one will be different. Has anyone else taken this and can offer any advice or reassurance? Also, I'm curious about how long it takes to work. The doctor said it should be quick, but I'm not seeing any improvement yet. Is that normal? I really need this to work, so any tips or insights would be appreciated. Thanks!

This stuff can be a bit rough on your system. I've had it before and you just need to remember it's temporary. It's better than having C. diff. I would recommend some ginger to help with any nausea, but it worked well for me.

I had some issues with a UTI while taking this but it wasn't until week 2 I guess if you take this and it doesn't clear the C.diff then you may have another issue. Just my opinion, might be worth talking to your doctor about it as well.

Be cautious with this stuff. I took it for C. diff and ended up with severe kidney issues. Not saying it's common, but it can happen. Stay hydrated and monitor your symptoms closely. Talk to your doc right away if you feel like something is off.

I took Firvanq and it worked wonders. Side effects were minimal, but I did get some stomach pain. Nothing I couldn't handle. Just keep at it and hope for the best.
