I've just been prescribed Humatin 250mg Capsules to treat amebiasis. I've read that it works inside the intestines and isn't absorbed much into the bloodstream, which is good, but I'm a bit nervous about the potential side effects. Has anyone else taken this medication? If so, what was your experience like? I'm particularly interested in hearing about any tips for managing side effects, like stomach cramps or diarrhea. Also, how long did it take for the medication to start working? Any insights or advice would be greatly appreciated!

I think Humatin is a necessary evil. It’s strong stuff, but it works. Just be prepared for the side effects and talk to your doctor if they become unbearable.

Why do all the good antibiotics have to make you feel so bad? Just glad it works.

Gross subject but I wish I could weigh in! Be prepared to be near a bathroom, lol.

Humatin really helped me get over that nasty infection. I didn’t experience much diarrhea, but the stomach cramps were tough. I took another medication to help those out. I think it was called something like Imodium. I dont remember the name for sure, but I wrote it down and asked my doc about it!
