Has anyone else started using Ketotifen 0.025% Opth Sol for their allergic conjunctivitis? I have a history of hay fever and pet allergies, and I've been suffering from extremely itchy and red eyes lately. My doctor prescribed me Ketotifen, and while I've noticed some relief, I'm wondering if anyone has experienced side effects or has any advice on how to manage them. Specifically, I've heard about the potential for severe side effects, which can be frightening, so I'm looking for more information from anyone who can share their experiences with any issues like eye pain, changes in vision, or eye redness. Should I be concerned about any of these potential side effects, and should I report any reactions to the FDA? It would be great to know what to expect and how to handle any problems that might arise.

I switched to over-the-counter eye drops after experiencing some irritation with Ketotifen, but that's not to say it's not worth trying. Everyone's different.

Be careful with this one. My friend had an allergic reaction and ended up in the ER with wheezing and swelling. Definitely something to be aware about. Keep an eye out for any trouble breathing, swallowing, or talking.

I had no idea this stuff could cause eye redness. It’s weird how it’s made to stop eye redness but it sometimes does the opposite. Has anyone else experienced this?

Make sure to store your Ketotifen properly. Keep it at room temperature and away from moisture and heat. Don’t freeze it, either! And if you’re using it for a long time, throwing it out after 28 days because the preservative may not be effective. I didn't know about this when I first got mine, so I had to get a new one unexpected.

I've had success with Ketotifen, but I make sure to follow the instructions carefully. Here’s what I do: I wash my hands before using the drops, tilt my head back, pull down my lower eyelid to form a pocket, and gently squeeze the drop into the pocket without touching the tip of the bottle to my eye. Make sure to avoid rubbing your eyes after applying the drops, and if you wear contact lenses, you should remove them before using the drops. You can put them back in about 15 minutes after use. And yes, if you have any of those severe side effects, go to the hospital right away!

I’ve used this for years and have generally had a good experience, but I was having a bad reaction when I had to go to the doctor. They suggested me as eye drops for allergies. It really does the job! But if you ever have any of those severe reactions it mentions, like trouble breathing, get to the hospital. There’s no sense in waiting it out if you can barely breathe.

The drops are great, but I wish they tasted better. Just kidding, but seriously, they work well for me. Just make sure to not touch the dropper to anything, including your eye or face to prevent contamination. The tip can hold bacteria from your hand or fingers.
