Just started Kovaltry 3000unit for hemophilia A - anyone else have side effects like severe fatigue?
I recently began using Kovaltry 3000unit Inj, 1 Vial for my hemophilia A and the medicine has been revolutionary with blood clotting and preventing bleeding. Before this, I was living with a constant fear of encountering a bleeding complication. However, I am extremely concerned I'll have to discontinue my treatment due to how severely I'm feeling physically drained all the time, especially after a day of activity. Also I'm curious if anyone else has had these side effects or felt that they needed to change something in their routine to counteract it in a way that wasn't too disruptive. I am under incredible amounts of stress from the possibility of losing a treatment that has been so effective so far for one of the most disruptive parts of hemophilia A which is bleeding complications. If anyone has any experience with this, it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

That's rough, man. I know how much of an inconvenience it is to have to deal with the side effects in conjunction with hemophilia. Make sure you're eating well and staying hydrated. I find that it helps a little bit with fatigue when I'm not feeling my best.
Did you just start on Kovaltry or were you on a different medication prior? I can definitely see how the extreme fatigue would be debilitating. I remember when I first started on this drug and I thought that I would not be able to work through my day. It wasn't until the first week or two that I was able to adjust.
I've been on Kovaltry for years and haven't experienced severe fatigue and I’m curious if you have a current bleed or if you have had one in the last few days.
I felt constantly drained whilst on Kovaltry as well. Make sure you're getting enough iron in your diet, a lack of which can lead to anemia and fatigue, and of course check that the anemia is not due to a bleed.
I had trouble with my Factor VIII infusions and would vomit every time. I have been on Kovaltry for a year now so far so good! Moreso just curious if you've talked to your doctor about trying a different vein site? I found that switching up the injection site made a world of difference for me.
Your doctor might be able to adjust your dosage or switch your medication that would help. I've had a few instances where I've had to switch up my treatments due to side effects, and it can be a hassle, but it's always worth it to feel better.
For the love of god rest more. I feel like a lot of people don't understand how taxing hemophilia truly is in many ways. Make sure you're getting enough sleep, and don't over exert yourself. Always consult your doctor before making drastic changes but if you truly feel you can't handle a normal routine due to fatigue try to ease up a bit on activity.
It's always tough when a treatment has side effects. The fatigue, I never experienced but I did have some pain flare ups. But worry not as some doctors may be able to prescribe something to help with that.
Don't forget to mention this to your doctor. They might be able to help you figure out what's going on. I know that it's easy to just push through and ignore things but it's always a good idea to consult a healthcare professional.
Have you tried switching to a different brand of Factor VIII? I switched from Kovaltry to another brand and noticed a significant difference in how I felt.
