I was recently prescribed Matzim LA 180mg Tablets to manage my high blood pressure. The doctor explained that it's a calcium channel blocker that helps relax blood vessels and slows the heartbeat, but I'm not sure what to expect. Has anyone else taken this medication? I'd love to hear about your experiences, both good and bad. What kind of side effects did you encounter, and how did you manage them? Also, are there any tips or tricks for taking this medication that might make it easier? I'm a bit nervous about the potential side effects, especially the severe ones, so any advice on what to watch out for would be appreciated.

I’ve been on Matzim LA for a few years now. It's been a good medication for me, but I have to be really mindful of my diet and exercise to make sure my blood pressure stays in check.

So basically, this is like a less intense version of Norvasc? I've taken before. Does it have the same side effects?

I had some pretty intense side effects at the beginning. Started with fatigue, and then I developed a weird rash. Went to the ER, and they told me I was having an allergic reaction. So, I would say, if you start feeling any of the severe side effects, don't hesitate to get medical help. Also, staying hydrated and keeping an eye on your blood pressure daily helps a lot.

I noticed that my skin got a bit yellowish a few weeks in. Turns out the drug was causing some liver problems. Got off it and switched to a different med. I would recommend keeping an eye out for any unusual discoloration of the skin or eyes.

I had to stop taking it because I developed a severe skin reaction. I thought it was just a normal rash, but it turned into the full blown Stevens-Johnson syndrome. It was terrifying. If you're taking it, make sure you're really aware of what your skin is doing. I'm not saying you should panic, but be careful.

Just a heads up, I found that if I take it with food, it helps with the stomach upset. But yeah, stay hydrated and monitor your blood pressure regularly.
